The town of Swan Hill is one packed with rich history.
Its greenery and Mediterranean
climate were once enjoyed by
Aboriginal tribes that roamed the
area thousands of years before the
first Europeans had arrived in 1836.
The town, located at the south bank
of the Murray River, was named “Swan
Hill” after a flock of noisy swans
kept explorer Major Thomas Mitchell
up all night at his camp.
Now called the “Heart of the
Murray,” Swan Hill’s historic
landscapes act as a backdrop for its
modern streets and beautiful outdoor
sceneries.
